Description

Blockages of the messenger substance "dopamine" cause hormonal disorders in the control of the horse's pituitary gland. In mares, the blockages can lead to hormonal disorders such as perennials or impaired fertility. In geldings, increased stallion behaviour and hormone-related behavioural disorders are observed. Another symptom that occurs frequently in connection with dopamine blockades and hormonal disorders is Cushing's syndrome, or ECS for short.

This disease not only leads to an above-average long winter coat, which is also retained in summer, it also leads to weak muscles, infertility and a weakened immune system. If one of the mentioned symptoms of illness is detected or diagnosed by the veterinarian in horses, feeding monk's pepper as part of the veterinary treatment can be nutritionally supportive and helpful.

What else you should know:
Monk's pepper must not be fed to mares who are already pregnant or immediately after they have been covered.

Quality notice:
The quality of monk's pepper depends very much on the state of maturity at the time of harvest. The more mature the pepper-like stone berries are when harvested, the more natural ingredients they contain, such as essential oils, flavonoids and iridoids. Starhorse monk's pepper finds its origin exclusively in 100% mature seeds and thus represents the highest possible quality level.

Pro tip:
The feeding of chaste tree in the course of a hormonal illness should always be discussed with a veterinarian in advance.

Important note for competition horse owners:
Monk's pepper contains natural active ingredients which, in accordance with the anti-doping law and the drug control regulations, should not be fed immediately before tournaments. The "Deutsche Reiterliche Vereinigung" (FN) recommends a waiting period of 48 hours from the last use of the product until it is used at the tournament.

  • 1 x daily approx. 20g
  • Small horses approx. 50% of the above amount
