Description

EquiPower linseed oil supplies unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, which have a positive effect on skin and coat while contributing to normal digestion and liver function. In addition, linseed oil provides low-protein energy and supports the energy metabolism.

Why choose linseed oil as an omega-3 source?
The body requires a balanced ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. In the typical horse diet of hay, grass and grain, there is a significant excess of omega-6 fatty acids, also due to the high content in concentrated feed. It can therefore make sense to offer a source of fatty acids that has the highest possible omega-3 content and the lowest possible omega-6 content. This makes linseed oil ideal for supplying horses with a balanced amount of fatty acids.

Dosage and feeding recommendation:

To enrich feed with unsaturated essential fatty acids
Horse type Daily dose
Adult horses (500 kg bodyweight) 50 ml per day
Young and small horses 25 ml per day
Dosing for increased energy requirements
Performance horses 250-500 ml per day
In order to achieve optimal fat absorption in the small intestine, it is important to let your horse get used to the desired amount in the first few weeks by gradually increasing the daily dose and not giving more than 200 ml of linseed oil per meal.

The energy content of 300 ml linseed oil roughly corresponds to the energy content of 1 kg of oats.
Feeding is recommended over a longer period of time.
