Description
German packaging: Resist vet
Nowadays, more and more horses are affected by insulin resistance. This means that insulin is unable to be used by the body's cells and sugar from the blood cannot be absorbed into the body's tissue.
This can cause hypoglycaemia and an excess of blood sugar. The body responds by producing more insulin.
The causes of insulin resistance can be very different. They can come from genetic factors, too little exercise, overfeeding or stress. In spite of cutting out sugar or starchy feed and increasing exercise, the problem is isn't usually solved.
One solution is the sugar molecule ribose, which is considered to lower blood sugar. Since the natural process is rather slow, ribose is supportive in times of stress, illness or ageing.

Insulin resistance can also be caused by disorders in the formation of the biomolecule chromodulin. This polypeptide, which consists of a few amino acids, stores four chromium ions (with triple positive charge; Cr3 +). The chromodulin enables the binding of insulin to the insulin receptor, which is located on the cell membrane. If the connection is successful, the enzyme tyrosine kinase is activated. Through phosphorylation, this enzyme ensures that the insulin receptor is able to absorb glucose. Chromium, the amino acids glycine, cysteine, glutamic acid and aspartic acid, as well as vitamin B3 are necessary to form chromodulin. The yeast used in the product serves as a natural source of chromium.
Ribose is an integral part of the RNA necessary for protein synthesis, the energy sources ATP, ADP and AMP. In addition, it also plays a significant role as a secondary messenger for enhancing hormonal effects in the cell.
