Description

Nutrition plays a major role in the development of movement disorders. It can be triggered by osteoarthritis, spar, tendon damage or changes in the bones. All too often, joint, bone and tendon diseases can be attributed to a lack of manganese, copper, silicon and sulphur. The body's own formation of chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid and collagenous connective tissue is massively impaired in theses cases.

In many cases, a lack of antioxidant nutrients that support the immune system and metabolism leads to problems removing waste materials from the extracellular matrix of the connective or cartilage tissue. The No. 9 herbal mixture skillfully supplements your horse's feed with selected high-quality herbs that are rich in silicon and sulphur and are characterised by their particularly high content of antioxidative nutrients.

Nutrition for healthy cartilage

The structure of cartilage tissue consists of cartilage cells and an extracellular matrix. Overall, there are only a few cartilage cells (3%) that are built into the so-called extracellular matrix, a gelatinous mass of chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid and collagenous connective tissue. The matrix serves to protect the cartilage cells and absorbs shock.

The task of the cartilage cells, in turn, is to produce precisely this extracellular matrix and thus to build up and regenerate the cartilage.

Removal of metabolic waste and cellular waste

Maintaining the viability of the cartilage cells, protecting and supporting them is a top priority that depends on a healthy metabolism. Waste products must be removed from the cells for the metabolism to function properly. If this process works well, the cartilage cells have a particularly long lifespan and are very active, which in turn enables the extracellular matrix to regenerate and thus protect the cartilage cells.

Herbs that protect the cartilage

Herbs like stinging nettles, verbena, garlic and many others are beneficial to cartilage health. The antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal effects of their phytochemicals help to detoxify tissue and remove metabolic waste.

Cartilage cells, which experience a better metabolism due to their extracellular matrix, are more reliably able to form components such as chondroitin sulphate, hyaluronic acid and collagenous connective tissue.

Support the extracellular matrix through good nutrient supply

Classic hay, grain feed or pasture grazing do not always satisfy the horse's needs for trace elements and secondary plant substances. However, producing these macromolecules requires special nutrients like copper, manganese, sulphur and silica, as well as high-quality fatty acids to activate the cartilage-forming cells. Any nutrients that have an antioxidant effect and stabilise the immune system are also important. The body's detoxification processes must also be supported.

dr.WEYRAUCH No. 9 Life is Movement

Herbal Mix No. 9 is particularly rich in herbs and spices that contain sulphur and silicon (silica). Selected herbs rich in trace elements and antioxidants such as rose hips, nettles, horsetail, flaxseed meal, verbena, birch, garlic, hawthorn, artichoke, dandelion, elderberry, sage, basil and others provide secondary plant substances that support the metabolism. The fatty acids in linseed, together with polyunsaturated fatty acids, contribute to forming anti-inflammatory prostaglandin E1.

Important Note:

  • Nutrient-balanced feed is the basis for the regeneration of the bone, tendon and cartilage tissue. To supplement the classic feed and to cover the trace element needed, No. 4 Gold Value and / or Mn Manganese are useful, especially for special manganese deficiency cases. In really difficult cases, the No. 3 Dragon Slayer should also be considered.

Feeding recommendation:

  • Feed 10 to 20 g daily (1 to 2 measuring spoons) per horse per day
  • Small horses and ponies should be fed correspondingly less
  • Please note that pure herbal preparations are not a substitute for mineral feed.
